In Memory of Bill
Bill Walter III was a resident of Ormond Beach, a graduate
of Spruce Creek High School, husband,
father and an
athlete who enjoyed many sports.
In January
1995 Bill was diagnosed with level 5 melanoma. In
August, 1998 friends, family and classmates rallied together
to bring the first annual Bill Walter III Melanoma 5K to
Ormond Beach with Bill and his family there. Three months
later Bill lost his battle with this dreaded disease. The
battle continues as Bills positive spirit lives on in the
hearts of those who are trying to help find a cure for
melanoma. The 13th annual run, RayZ Awareness, will take
place on the beach at the Granada Beach approach. Walkers
and walking groups are welcome. Donations are gratefully
accepted.
The money
raised during this event will be used to
help fund
melanoma research, assist patients in need of financial
support and to increase melanoma awareness.
WALK OR RUN IN HONOR OR MEMORY OF

We would like to invite all participants to
recognize those special people who have been touched by melanoma. Back signs will be
provided for you to wear. Feel free to embellish your sign(s) with photos, poems or special words. |

One person dies of melanoma every hour
(every 62 minutes) Melanoma strikes people
of all ages, all races, all economic levels and both
sexes. It is already the most common cancer for women
25 to 29 and the second most common cancer for women 30
to 34. Melanoma is increasing faster than any other
cancer. An Americans lifetime risk of developing
melanoma is about one in 75. While melanoma is the
most deadly form of skin cancer, it is also highly
preventable and treatable if caught early.
But sadly, there is no cure for this aggressive disease. |
|
We invite you to join us in our quest for a melanoma
cure by making a donation to the Bill Walter III
Melanoma Research Fund. You can make a difference. All
donations are tax deductible and no amount is too
small. Please accept our gratitude. |
Please make checks payable to: Bill Walter III
Melanoma Research Fund, and mail donations to 290
Morningside Ave., Daytona Beach, FL 32118. |
